love ain't love, it's just another four-letter word
We trust Charleston at first glance because Colonel Porter is there, but all is not as it seems! I can't remember what happens in these next two episodes, but I remember that the president is Locke from Lost and things are baaaaad.
Oh god, the people of Charleston applauding and cheering the arrival of the 2nd Mass. I have actual tears in my eyes right now.
Oh man, and Weaver's daughter's here. Crying. Ugh, show.
The shady president is Tom's mentor from college. Awkward.
Oh, wait, he calls himself "Majority Leader; 'President' seemed presumptuous." First politician in history to try to avoid seeming presumptious. ;P
I love the Weaver is supportive of his daughter speaking out against the government in a citywide meeting. There was a lot of stuff in season one about what a bad father he was, but I think he's seriously trying now, and I think his heart was never in a bad place.
I also love Weaver's ponytail.
Dr. Asshole: "You're a pediatrician, I'm a heart specialist. Do the math."
Anne: "I'm the combat medic from the 2nd Mass who's gonna have you walking bow-legged unless you talk me through each. patient's. chart."
And then the parents all look pleasantly surprised, haha. Why did I ever not love Anne??
Weaver's daughter: "Sorry, it's not you, it's this place. Be careful. Say the wrong thing, and you'll be pulling double shifts. Or worse."
WAIT YOU GUYS, IS CHARLESTON MAYBE A SHITHOLE?
Okay you guys, seriously though, how much do I love that Tom gave his tomato to Anne? HE KEEPS FEEDING HER LUXURIES FROM THE PAST. It's so fucking sweet, and he never keeps anything for himself.
Weaver giving Hal a lecture on leadership. <3
Dai has, like, two lines this entire season. :/
Matt: "I was in class when one of the bigger kids started talking trash about us."
Tom: "I'm guessing it was nothing good."
THAT'S WHAT TRASH MEANS, TOM.
And then, like, Tom and Anne have this non-verbal exchange, and it's so parental.
Margaret is complaining that instead of "an honest emotional reaction," Hal gave her "'I'm gonna think about it' and teenage silences."
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DATE A TEENAGER.
Pope: "Truth is, Tom Mason is a pompous, semi-erudite history buff with delusions of grandeur. And if anybody is going to knock him off his pedestal it's gonna be me, and not some two-bit tinpot dictator."
I know he's evil but he makes me laugh.
Hal: "But we're gonna wipe the slate clean. I'm no longer Hal the high school jock, and you're not Maggie the junkie thief. That might be the only good thing that came out of this mess. A chance to start over, to become better people than we were before."
Margaret: "Nice speech, you been practicing?"
Hal: "A little."
You should have heard the speech he used back in high school to get Rita in the backseat of that beater car. :P
Tom: "You're taking a hell of a chance to help us, Jim."
Porter: "I take a chance every time I drink coffee in this place."
Yay, guys, Charleston. :P
To be continued again! I can only remember one scene from 2x10, so it will be new and exciting for me.
